It was not too long ago that we were arguing the case for and against LCD and plasma televisions. And though LCD TV eventually came out the victor, due to its superior all round function and practicality, its crown is now under threat. That this threat comes from its sibling the LED television, is all the more intriguing.
Initially of course, it may seem just another way for the major players in the world of TV screens to get their hands on more of our hard earned money. But it is more than this; it is a step forward and the benefits to be had are far reaching.
To appreciate this however, it is necessary to understand where LED television technology differs from what has gone before. In the most basic of levels, LED technology is simply a progression from LCD; it uses the self same screens for a start; and works in much the same the way. The difference lies in how light is sent to the screen; with LEDs, this is done through backlighting or side lighting.
Sending light to the screen in this way allows for far greater control over the picture quality, definition and brightness. Each diode can be controlled independently, allowing for smoother flow through the image projected onto the screen. Deeper colors and blacks are the result, delivering a far truer picture that feels as if you are looking at something through the human eye.
Whilst the benefits are far reaching with LED television technology being able to produce better quality images with high brightness and contrast levels, the benefits do not stop here. This better quality image is produced using less power and creating less light and heat wastage. This of course also allows the lifespan to be much longer than even the most robust of LCD TV currently on the market.
The depth of the TVs is also thinner than what is presently available. Amazing as this may sound, it is quite true. The depth of LCD and plasmas are presently given in inches, an LED television will be measured in millimetres; with somewhere around 9 or 10 being the standard, though screens of just 6mm are available now.
Okay, this all sounds excellent but of course, it isn’t all good news. Whilst no limitations exist to the operation of an LED television, there is a limitation regards affordability. It is really no different to the large prices that LCD and most particularly plasmas were tagged with though.
The benefits then are quite significant with this new technology; better pictures, better lighting; better control, and all whilst having a positive impact on the environment. Indeed, the only downside remains the price.
However, as with any new concept, the price will be high initially, to pay for investment that the manufactures have had to spend on research and development. The price of an LED television may be out of the reach of many for the time being, but over the next few years this will come down to realistic levels. Just in time for the next advance probably!

The new LED Televisions coming out aren’t the same old ones that have been around for years. They are better, and in fact they might even be better then LCD or Plasma TVs. LED, which stands for light emitting diodes, have been around for a long time now. They have a new feature that is setting the electronic industry in motion.
Way ahead of the standard choices of televisions that you find to buy, the LED televisions have made a huge splash. The picture quality of these newer LEDs is looking better than a Plasma or LCD television can offer you. So let’s look at the other advantages you can see with LED televisions.

So advantages that we have discovered for LED televisions over other competitors on the market. Well they include a sharper picture, with colors that are rich, plus a lot less expensive. They even offer the same advantages of LCDs and Plasma TVs with 1080p, and being able to play Blu-Ray players with clear pictures.
In closing, check out these new LED televisions that are on the market. See if you can see any difference in the picture. You know you will see it in the price of them over the higher priced alternatives. And think of all the things you can buy with saving that money!

High definition television is also most commonly known as HDTV. It is the new form of television broadcasting and manufacturing. It is all under a digital platform which requires less bandwidth than its predecessor, the standard definition television. The standard definition television runs under analogue broadcasting systems which are slowly but surely being phased out today.
The high definition television has the upper hand over the standard television because of its high resolution picture. It is so clear that some describe the experience as actually being inside the television set. It achieves this by using more lines than the standard television set to draw up an image. This gives it an extremely detailed picture overall.
Before buying a high density television first consider the room where you are going to be using it in. Some of them require a certain minimum distance from them to get that high quality picture that they advertise.
One then has to look at the price averages of high density televisions in the market. Browse and see what would be the best for the amount that you have set aside to spend on your TV. Maybe you do not even have enough yet for what you imagined and you need to hold on a bit more. They begin from three hundred dollars and up.
You will then have to consider what you are going to be mainly using the high definition television for. If you will mainly be watching rented movies then you would want to buy the maximum resolution of one thousand and eighty. The movies are standardized to come ready to play in this resolution.
If you intend to be watching these rented movies on a standard DVD player then you are going to end up disappointed. The movies will not look good on a high definition television. You will have to go out and buy a high definition player. I just thought I should warn you.

They cost more than the ordinary cables but they will multiply your viewing experience a hundred times over.
The only other thing to be done was to now make the most out of the audio. Spend a bit more on surround speakers and see the difference. You may never have to go to a cinema again.

By now, almost everyone has made the switch to LCD monitors. While these monitors are much less bulky than the older CRT monitors, there are some disadvantages that can be solved by making another switch to the LED monitors.
The difference between an LCD monitor and an LED monitor is with the source of the back light. The older LCD monitors are back lit with florescent tubes. These tubes only have a lifetime of three to four years before they begin to dim. Although it may seem that the smart thing to do to correct this problem would have been to allow the consumer to change the florescent tubes and keep the same monitor, but this option has not been offered by manufacturers. Instead, users are left with no alternative other than to replace their monitors. Thus, monitors become a large source of electronic waste.
Another disadvantage of an LCD monitor is that it is bulkier and heavier than an LED monitor. The florescent tubes are the reason for the additional thickness. These monitors cannot be made as thin as the LED monitors, which may be less than half an inch in thickness. The LED displays are ideal for laptop computers.
A third disadvantage of the LCD monitors is that the florescent light does not produce a full color spectrum. There are some colors that are just not as bright with these monitors as they are with the LED monitors that produce a high quality white light.
LED monitors now require much less energy than any other monitor on the market. In addition they are some of the brightest monitors available on the market. They also have a longer life span before they begin to lose their brightness.
Some users do complain that the edge lit LED monitors do not have an evenly lit screen. They find it brighter along the edges and darker in the center. This is due to the fact that the LED lights are only along the edges, making the super thin screen possible. This may simply be a matter of adjusting to the use of the screen.
Another complaint the some people have with LED monitors is that they are too bright for some applications. A suggestion might be to find a LED monitor that allows the user to adjust the brightness. Users who make this complaint find that the bright monitor causes eyestrain.
Even with these two minor complaints, the LED monitor is one of the best monitors available today. The monitors are super thin and they have the best clarity available in any monitor. They also last longer than LCD monitors that have the florescent tubes for back lighting.
By choosing a monitor with a long life, you make a choice for the environment. This choice will mean that you do not have to replace the monitor every time you replace your computer. By using the same monitor for the life of more than one computer, you help to keep landfills free of electronic waste. Choosing an LED monitor should be the clear choice.

Since the switch-over to digital television the availability of HD TV to all has accelerated the demand for what is called full hd TV. Once the consumer is able to receive high definition broadcasts, a requirement of watching television at the best possible resolutions requires the viewer to be watching on a Full HD TV.

The advantages of LED televisions are, brighter images, deeper blacks, reduced power consumption and improved life-spans.
Something worth mentioning is the technological advances that are currently beginning to emerge. OLED and 3D TVs are something to keep an eye out for in the future. They are tentatively being introduced into the market but are still some time off being perfected. They are technologies which we may see a lot of in the future.
At the end of the day the decision about what TV to buy is going to depend on each consumers personal budget and requirements. Take time to do your research, so that you are best equipped to make the right choice and make the most of your Full HD TV experience.

Whilst OLED televisions have been under development for some time now, it is only recently that talk of them has entered wider public awareness. There seems to be an awful lot of excitement about the developments, particularly at the increasing number of trade fairs and industry shows around the world. But is it warranted?
Before discussing the benefits of OLED televisions, it is worth spending a little time trying to understand the tech. Rather than using a screen that reflects light to produce an image, (as with LCDs and LEDs), the layers of compounds that make up the screen emit light themselves.
This allows far richer and deeper colors to be produced. Indicative of this is the reproduction of “true” black; essentially the same black seen in nature. This is fundamental to the industry, as the quality of black produced defines the quality of the complete imagery.
The advantages to be gained continue with the slimness that can be achieved with the screens; the slimmest of which is currently just 3mm. With no need to create a casing for the lights anymore, screens can also be moulded to suit practically any shape and curve.
This also allows the screen to be extremely resistant to damage and scratching; ideal for televisions and many other applications such as advertising boards, cell phones and a new concept in interactive printed media. The screens are also extremely thin, the thinnest out there reputed to be just three millimetres in depth.
However what the screen “lacks” in depth, it also certainly LACKS in size. Presently, the biggest screen made, (and shown to the public), is a rather small fifteen inches. However, despite this, resolution and contrast are amazing.
Other than screen size, the obvious downside when looking for OLED televisions is the price. You can expect to pay a minimum of two thousand five hundred dollars for a screen size of just eleven inches. For that amount you can get a good quality forty inch (and upwards) LCD screen, so this puts it beyond the reach of most.
Another downside to an OLED televisions is the short life span which, will also be a concern; particularly when countered against the price, (though the unit themselves use much less power than LCDs and LEDs and so this counter balances this to some extent). Also at the moment availability is not widespread either.
It is still a relatively young technology though; with a lot of advancements yet to be made. The price will of course fall as demand picks up, the technology really becomes commercially viable and life span is improved.
In summary, the advantages of OLED televisions now and for the future will outweigh any disadvantages. They are the greener option; subsequently consuming fewer resources and the picture clarity is unparalleled.

LED TVs and displays employ a new technology which a have improved the viewing experience. They have now been made thinner, lighter and have a better picture quality than their conventional LCD counterparts. The advances in this area resulted in Samsung selling approx one million LED TVs worldwide in the first six months.
LED displays are not radically different to conventional LCD displays. They still use LCDs, the difference is with the source of lighting used in these displays. Rather than using fluorescent lights as previous LCD displays have, LED TVs and displays use LEDs as the screens lighting source.
Some sectors have been critical of the use of LED TV to describe these televisions as it could be construed as being inaccurate when you don?t know the whole facts. One authority in the United Kingdom responsible for advertising was critical of some of the advertising related to LED TVs. The outcome was that the makers of LEDs TV promised to clarify the use of LEDs in their advertising. Rival manufacturers have stated that LED TVs would be more accurately described as LED-lit LCD TVs.
At this point Samsung, Sony, Philips and LG have their own variations of LED televisions on the market. All have their own unique features and the result is that the new TVs produce a better picture quality, are thinner, lighter and are more energy efficient. On the down side as is to be expected with new technology, they are still more expensive than standard LCD TVs.
The use of LEDs is to provide the lighting which was formerly provided by fluorescent lights. They can be side or back lit. Side lit LED TVs can be made to be very thin, the thinnest on the market are only 1cm thick. Back lit displays aren?t far behind and have the advantage of improved contrast level. This because the LEDs which are situated behind the display can be individually controlled, this enables the TVs to produce very dark blacks by turning off the corresponding back-light LEDs.
With LED lighting picture quality is further improved because LEDs have a fuller spectrum range of light than fluorescent lights do. This has the benefit of improved contrast and enhanced color reproduction.
All forms of LED displays that utilize LEDs for lighting also benefit from improved lifespan. Fluorescent lighting does not last as long as LEDs. Over time fluorescent lights degrade and the LCD display becomes duller. Once this happens the lights can?t be replaced, it usually takes 3-4 years to become noticeable.
An added benefit with the use of LED technology in TVs and monitors is that LEDs are also far more efficient that fluorescent lighting. This has the effect that LED TVs can be up to 40% more energy efficient than an equivalent LCD displays and up to 50% more efficient than plasma TVs.

First there was the LCD television, and then there was the Plasma television. Following that was the newly released LED television, but Sony is not stopping there. They are newly releasing the OLED television that is said to make all the other types of televisions a thing of the past.
With the advances of the viewing experience given to us by LCD and plasmas displays it is hard to perceive that the market could be revolutionized by the emergence on OLED displays, but the benefits that come along with OLED displays are set to do just that. With super light and thin displays that are flexible whilst maintaining their crystal clear definition, the improvements are astounding.
OLED (short for organic light emitting diodes) TVs and displays, are constructed from a grid of transistors that make up a thin layer to for the pictures that are displayed on the screen, and because they are organic they are friendly to the environment also. They have many positives over its rivals, mainly the improvement in picture quality, plus a host of new features and the added benefit that they consume far less electricity than their LCD and plasma equivalents because they do not require to be backlit. All this from a display that not only has flexible qualities but is only millimetres thick.
With Sony leading the way followed by Samsung this new technology does not just belong in the world of home entertainment but computing also. This brings possibilities for OLED displays into the business world for use in displays and monitors, with the impressive images and benefits from being super thin and light (with an OLED monitor measuring only 10 mm thick) being applicable to the workplace, the potential is massive.
This television just comes to show us how fast and how far we are travelling in the world of electronics. The screen is much more amazing then other LCD, Plasma, or LED televisions combined. It produces a much better glow and quality that will send jaws to the floor. The sizes of the television are going to be coming out at smaller sizes for the meantime. This is because Sony believes that the picture and concept alone will draw much more business than any other television on the market. It is that remarkable. Of course over time you will see much larger OLED television sets. There is rumour that a seventy inch television set is being devolved and is in prototype as you are reading this.
The light produced by the OLED televisions is actually organic. To be more technical there are organic light emitting diodes that produce the picture with highly announced quality. This comes to show you what OLED stands for. Play movies and view your home desktop at far better quality then the already amazing LED televisions. That’s right you are even able to sync your computer with your television very easily. Simply connect it through a special cable that you can pick up at the local Radio Shack. This is the main thing Sony is trying to capture. They want the computer industry to flourish with these new televisions.
As for the immediate future of LED TVs and displays, we should expect to see the first Sony produced displays appearing with Samsung shortly afterwards. The first displays produced will be 13 inches in size, but this is surely the start for what is potentially a new expanding market with larger improved sets set to follow in the very near future.
