Oh, I’m well aware the original incarnation of the PlayStation and it’s history. But I don’t think Nintendo “screwed up” in abandoning their plans to make a CD-ROM addon for the SNES. In hindsight, looking at the damage the Sega CD did to Sega, it was actually a very wise move.

Actually, Nintendo screwed up. Sony was trying to make a disc based addon for the SNES to compete with the Sega CD and Nintendo agreed. But halfway through production Nintendo didn’t want it anymore, forcing Sony to turn that into a stand alone console.

I do, big time! I’m with you 100%. Why did Sony have to come along and screw everything up? I realize a lot of the blame most go to Sega themselves for making some bad business decisions(*cough* Sega CD, 32X), but Sony really screwed up the dynamics of the video game business and the legendary rivarly between Nintendo and Sega.
Sega Genesis vs. SNES was the greatest console war ever IMO. I don’t think it will be topped.

I found that deal on craigslist…that place can really be a treasure trove if you keep an eye on it every day. I got a SNES wiht power cord, rf adapter, 2 controllers and 6 games(4 good ones) all for $25 not as good as that other deal but still nice.
And I bought a perfect brand new n64 controller for $10 and the buy threw in a beat up N64 with no power or AV cables and some paint on it but it works…so I’m gonna open it up and paint the case. Moral of the story: Craigslist=awesome.
