WoW: Cooking Leveling Guide

by Seth Symonds

When forming a successful character in the game of World of Warcraft, there are many features that need to be considered as you level. When you first start, you learn that you have the option of taking on two primary skills, as well as all three secondary skills. The primary skills will take some deliberation, depending on your play style, but secondary skills are a no-brainer as they all impact your character’s ability on multiple levels.

Of the many skills available in the game to choose for your character, cooking is one such skill. It is a really productive skill and provides your character with multiple scopes. Your character benefits from the items it produces in multiple ways. These productions have both direct and immediate impact on your character, and also provide long duration bonus impacts which last for one or two hours.

Bonuses That Cooking Can Provide to Your Character

The best benefit of cooking early on in the game is the statistical bonuses that come with it, which buffs a specific area of your character’s ability for a certain amount of time. If your character is low on health points, you can replenish it by sitting down for a few seconds and eating some food that your character was able to make from the mob you just killed. The game is designed for you to take advantage of this skill.

Can You Make Money Off of Cooking?

Sure, you can make money off of cooking, but that’s not the point. The point of cooking comes when you reach level 80, and success in the game requires participating in PvP and raiding. Being a master cook provides you the ability to buff your entire guild through feasts, allowing every raider the opportunity to be at their best. When it comes to raids, you have to use every advantage afforded to you. These feasts add some serious bonuses to your character, including higher Mana Regeneration, Stamina, Agility, Critical Strike Rating, Expertise Rating, etc.

By reading this Cooking Leveling Guide, you will be saving yourself a lot of time and gold, as it can quickly drain both if you don’t know what you’re doing. You will learn a couple ways to optimize the entire process - what materials to save while leveling, where to quest, and even the best recipes to level. If you aren’t worried about the gold, then we can skip a few steps and jump right into leveling the skill by buying the materials from the Auction House.

Is Cooking a Skill Worthy of All the Effort?

Once you are done with cooking skill and hit 450, food is made available to you and your guild, who usually demands more than supplied. Here you get a chance to make large money rapidly, which proves that cooking is indeed a worthy skill.

Since this skill is available to everyone, it would be a mistake to not invest in it. After all, it may be the difference needed to be invited into a raid.
