The best 5 tips for turning your character into a Warcraft Gold Generator. You can use these tips as soon as you get to the auction house at any level.
1- Spend as much time as possible playing the game properly. Powerleveling as fast as you can. This does three things.
As you progress, you will access higher level areas, and this in turn will give you better loot. But the main reason is that, by combining questing with powerleveling, you have a great route to extra gold in the form of rewards, and of course a decent upgrade path with weapon and armour rewards
2- Ask a guild friend, or pay a stranger, to get a low level alt to Dalaran by portal. Dalaran has vendors that sell high level consumables. These consumables can then be posted back to a character at your factions major cities and put on the auction house there. Bullets, arrows food and drink all fetch a lot more at auction than from the vendor. Don’t flood the market. This is a real WotLK gold farming method.
3- Use your secondary crafting skills such as disenchanting, milling, transmutation or prospecting. It may be that the items you have in your inventory are worth more in an altered state. Crafting doesn’t offer a lot of perks to the serious gold maker, so make sure you use this one.
4- Take the time to scan the auction house every day with an addon like auctioneer. Once you have a decent number of scans over a period of perhaps a week or two, then start looking for items that are on the market for a lot less than the average price. (I look for under 33% - and there are often lots of items like this) You can then buy these to sell back at a later date when the market has risen.
5- For some reason best known to themselves, many people don’t put a buyout on items at auction. It’s not good practice to do this, and these people will lose a lot of sales (I want that Axe now, not the day after tomorrow when your auctions 48 hours is up - i’ll buy something else instead, or just forget it). Capitalize on these mistakes by filtering the AH GUI to pick up auctions that have less than 30 minutes to run, then minimum bidding on the bargains.
Quick note to those who say you shouldn’t bid just one copper above minimum…Why?
If you bid 2 copper more than the minimum bid, what’s the second copper for? How does that benefit you? Sure if there is a bidding war (i’ve seen them but they are very very rare) then you might want to scare people off with a larger bid. But in that case it’s soon not going to be a bargain anyway. Don’t let others learn at your expense. If the vendor is unhappy then they will learn to market properly and use a buy-out. If they are happy, well that’s fine as well.
Good luck, you’ll soon be well on your way to being a World of Warcraft Gold Generator.
